So when Matthew & Kathryn told me that part of their wedding decor included 1000 paper cranes, I was inspired by the creative challenge that lie ahead of them and wondered if they would actually be able to get that many origami cranes completed by their wedding day. Well they did, ahead of schedule even!! An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. The crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and the tortoise), and is said to live for a thousand years. In Japan, it is commonly said that folding 1000 paper origami cranes makes a person’s wish come true. So, without having asked them (because you should never ask anyone what they wish…), I can only assume that their wish is to live happily ever after surrounded by family, friends, laughter & love, and well, I know that has already come true for them :)
Their turquoise hued wedding held at Red River College, Princess Street Campus was decorated by the colourful cranes, a selection of yummy treats (cupcakes AND a candy bar) and ended with a rousing photobooth that was a huge hit and the amazing musical stylings of the F-Holes! A fabulous day indeed!
