The bride wore navy. Private vows were said between the couple after the official ceremony was complete. The photo session was just the bride and groom and they changed out of their fancy duds… this was all about the sharing of vows, and it was absolutely lovely!

Heather wanted a canopy of golden leaves to encompass herself and Karl during their incredibly intimate ceremony, and she certainly got her wish!

To say that these two were blessed with an amazing day is an understatement! The fall was long, and the day was relatively warm, considering it was the end of October in Winnipeg. The leaves were golden, the sky was blue, and the sweet ceremony was held with their closest family present in the park down the street from their home.

After a little trip down to The Forks, it was back to their own home, where friends and family were waiting to celebrate into the night!

Hopefully this reminds all you hardy Winnipegers that all seasons are not winter, and there will be warmth again soon!

This session was shot inside a snow globe! Ok, not really, but it sure looks like it was!

Jack and Katie met down south, and even though they have both lived in northern climates, it was a lot to ask of these two to go on a little icy adventure! They were very good sports as we traipsed around The Forks and the River Trail to get what you can only term quintessential Winterpeg photos.

It was snowy and warm-ish, and we were able to spend a considerable amount of time out on the frozen river, and we’re glad we did because now, just two weeks later, we Winnipeggers have been suffering through another bout of winter weather that has seen our temps plummet to depths again as cold as the dark side of Mars!

We are excited for you two, happy to see the warmth and love you have for each other, and so glad to be photographing your wedding this weekend!

We’d use one word, ENERGETIC, to sum up this family and this session! The sugary treats used to bribe the kiddos (because really, it happens and we all know it) may have been partly to blame! They were also great props, and provided a fun way to get everyone interacting naturally.

We love watching people, it’s part of what makes us good at our job. But we really love watching people with their loved ones, and seeing those moments that just make your heart melt because you’re witnessing something of the bond that people have with each other. Like the way a daughter will bury her head into her mothers shoulder because she’s still being a little shy, or the way a son with rough house with his dad… it’s beautiful! And while we know that life with kiddos can be a challenge (or so we hear, neither of us have kids of our own) it’s seeing those moments that make it all worth it that we are total suckers for!
We especially loved when these four were sitting together and T made sure that he got his mom and dad to hold hands with each other, it was of the utmost importance to him!

Thanks for inviting us into your day, and your lives for a moment, we had a wonderful time with the four of you!

When I first met with Darren & Jolene to talk about shooting their wedding this May, Jolene was *beyond* excited about taking their engagement photos..so much that she had very specific ideas about what colours to include, a quilt that was very special to her and what activities we could all include. Needless to say, her enthusiasm was contagious and we were both thrilled at the possibilities and images that were to come. So a few balmy Sundays ago, we met at the Forks to enjoy some skating, hot chocolate and like she put in her Facebook status that day, “it was fun just making out all afternoon!”. When I get to work with amazing couples like this, I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the world!
