So I have been going over my schedule again and again and I am sad to say that despite receiving numerous requests for family/unportrait sessions this upcoming fall season, with my calendar already over capacity, I just can’t possibly take on any more clients or new work this year. Sorry folks!

Turns out that I have never shot a wedding where both the bride and groom were Chinese and I learned something last Saturday…the Chinese sure do know how to put on a wedding! From multiple tea ceremonies, to roasting entire pigs to celebrate, to making sure that all of their guests had more than enough food and prosperity to have a good time, they thought of EVERYTHING! Ken & Lorraine’s wedding was fantastic! See for yourself…

Lorraine pretty much had this smile on her face the whole day, even when the rain wouldn’t let up…she definitely didn’t let it get her down!

and she had the SMALLEST shoes ever..like a size 4! It was unbelievable (and still think that they were little girl’s shoes..lol)

but so perfect for her little feet!

the ceremony was in the backyard of Ken’s parent’s house and we were all so thankful that they put up the tent..because the weather man (that said it wouldn’t rain) was wrong again..surprise surprise! Paula Rutledge of Mobile Marriage did a fabulous job on the ceremony too!

the tea ceremony was filled with lots of splashes of red and so much happiness!

and you can’t forget the roast pig!

the wedding party was such a joy to work with..my face hurt from laughing all day with them..

and we had to incorporate this green…it was one of their wedding colours!

Well, I’m officially more than half way through wedding season and exhausted! Fortunately I am lucky enough to be surrounded by love, laughter, fantastic couples and more beauty than I can almost bear every weekend and that is fueling me to carry on. If you can believe it, I’m even at a loss for words lately…thankfully Angie & Al’s fabulous Friday Fort Gibraltar wedding can be summed up in only a few words…love is sweet!

One week ago today I was lucky enough to celebrate a fantastic wedding day with Margaret & Bryan! Having only met Margaret once and Bryan not even that (they are lucky enough to live in Vancouver), I wasn’t really sure what to expect but naturally, they turned out to be fantastic & fun and were more than willing to do what I asked them, whether walking through knee high grass in the rain (in a lace wedding dress and heels) or trusting me with last minute indoor locations due to the weather. Andrea & Lindsay of Soiree Event Planning helped to make the wedding completely outstanding and what Margaret spent so many hours planning and envisioning come to life!

Well, to say that I have been waiting in anticipation for this wedding for a while is an understatement. Early last year while shooting a wedding at Terrace 55, Jessica came up to me and had this look on her face like a kid in a candy store. She went on about how in love with my photos she was and the minute that she got engaged she was going to call me..and she did! Her and Jeremy are truly perfect for each other and you can tell by how they just gaze at each other (and are far too focused on each other to look at the camera..which I LOVE!!). Their day was filled with music, love and so much laughter…see for yourself!

Just over a week ago now, I hit the road with Becky (who is a FABULOUS travel partner, just so you know) to shoot a fun filled Saturday wedding in Neepawa. It’s always nice to escape from Winnipeg and have the chance to shoot in a new location, wherever that might be! Kristin & Mathew chose to marry in Neepawa, despite living in Alberta, as Kristin’s family lives there and it was so nice for her to be surrounded by so many friends on her big day! I can say without a doubt that Becky and I had quite an adventure on our 3 days away but that I won’t bore you with details. Suffice it to say, we couldn’t have wished for a more fabulous couple to spent it with! Thanks for the memories…

To say that I am excited for Marc & Marnie’s upcoming September wedding is an understatement! I LOVE small town weddings (and tent receptions!) and I’m sure that their’s will be nothing short of fabulous! A few weeks ago now we got together for their e-session and enjoyed over an hour of laughs..which is the way that it should be! I know that they were nervous to start but they quickly got comfortable in front of the camera and soon were naturals! Enjoy the preview…

Michael & Hilary…07.24.10

Ya know…sometimes I meet a couple during our first consultation and when I ask them about their wedding plans, their faces just light up. And although this is usually months and months before their wedding and so much needs to be arranged, if they have a vision in their head about what is important to them, you can just sense it and despite the countless hours of planning, execution and getting to the actual day, that vision is what drives them…this was the case with Mike & Hilary. They talked about how they were going to have the ceremony and a brunch reception here in the city at St.Charles Country Club and then loads of time to take photos along our drive to the final destination…West Hawk Lake. We went back and forth about timelines and how much time to allot for driving (as the final destination was 2 hours out of the city) and sometimes, despite how much you want to break it all down and analyze, it all comes together in the end. To describe last Saturday in one word…perfection. How else can I describe a wedding where I was given almost endless time with just the couple (no wedding party means that I don’t have to share them! yay!) in some of the most beautiful locations in the province?! And you’ll see these two in just a minute..like Ken & Barbie! (lol) From the beginning to end it was so filled with love + fun and to continue the celebration in a place that is so close to their hearts was the right decision. Thanks you two for sharing your most perfect day with me…

The celebration at the lake was held at the Booth cottage, which has been in Mike’s family since the early 1900′s…it was SO vintage and amazing!!

Beyond Flowers did an AMAZING job of Hilary’s bouquet! Their work is always colourful, creative and lasts all day..I definitely recommend them! It was really sweet for Hilary to incorporate her late father into the bouquet too…always right there with her.

Kerrie & Trevor…06.16.10

Just over a week ago now, I joined Kerrie & Trevor in the sunshine to celebrate their beautiful wedding. Kerrie has lived overseas for a year now so Trevor did the majority of planning for their wedding and it turned out fantastic! We took all of the photographs in the city before heading out to Cherry Hill Estate for a lovely outdoor ceremony and evening reception in one of their fabulous tents. From beginning to end, it was fun and fabulous!

We headed out to Canwest Park for some baseball action!

And since Kerri has a background in acting and theatre, we soaked up some Fringe Fest fun!

my sweet Chico…

Earlier this week I said goodbye to one of my sweet Boston Terriers, Chico. He was only in my life for a few short months but he touched my heart so much. After fostering him for a few weeks, I knew that there was no way that I could live without him so I signed the papers, adopted him and gave him his forever home here with Charlie & I. He had such a genuine sweetness about him and all that he wanted was to give and receive love. He had a heartbreaking past coming from a puppymill but thankfully was rescued and was given a chance to be loved. The fantastic ladies from the Boston Terrier & Pug Rescue of Southern Manitoba gave him more love and attention than he had every experienced and I am so grateful to them, and his foster parents Carole & Mike and their family for showing him that life can be filled with fun and love instead of hurt and neglect. I also want to thank the staff at Southglen Veterinary Hospital for making his last days as easy as possible and for fighting to give him every chance that he deserved to be well. Cheeky, you have no idea how much I will miss you. You touched the hearts of so many that will never forget you. Rest in peace my sweet boy…
