Where to start? Well, when I first met with Melanie and Andrew, Melanie’s face was so familiar to me…having shot more than a few of her friend’s weddings already AND her brother Jeremy’s as well, I am SO incredibly flattered when this happens as surely that is a good indication that I’m doing something right! Then Andrew started talking about having their ceremony IN a wheat field on his family’s farm, well, it didn’t take long to convince me to make the drive to Neepawa to shoot this incredible day! And this wedding sure did live up to the great expectations that I had! These two are so creative and truly made this wedding day their own. From the hand cut hearts that people left heartfelt messages on in the trees (that acted as their guestbook), to the bouquets that were handmade by Melanie (that included wheat from Andrew’s family’s farm, which also decorated the historic Franklin Memorial Hall, where the reception was held), the little trail of hearts that led you to the ceremony site, being surrounded by the lovely sounds of her band Sibyl the entire day and the over 200 cupcakes that were made by Melanie’s sister-in-law Jessica (who you may know from the recent Weddingbells Red Photo Co. ads!), this entire day was truly a labour of handmade love. Every single one of the weddings that I have shot for this incredible group of friends and family has been like that, so genuine and full of love…and that is an amazing feeling! Truly what every wedding should feel like…
