2016 begins and most of us thoughtfully consider the year that was. We think of the victories and the defeats. The celebrations of life and love, and the mourning over loss. The easy decisions and the hard ones.
We’re busy making lists of things we learned, changes that will be put in place, resolutions for healthier living, books we want to read and countless other things that seem important at the moment, but only time will tell if we value the idea enough to put action behind it.
Part of our job is historian. In documenting you and your families during the highs and lows, you invite us in and give us a special place in your world. We see you on some of your best days and occasionally also on your worst. You invite us to be part of your celebrations of love and commitment, to the birthing room as you welcome children, their first birthdays, the special family moments when multiple generations are all gathered together and so many more moments of your lives.
So what has 2015 taught us?
Well, we’ve learned that Coralee LOVES to knit. I mean really, this girl has a new Esty shop up and makes the most glorious chunky knit wear to keep you and your little humans warm. Check her out… it’s easy to remember Red Knit Co.
I (Rebecca) am still up for overseas adventures, and am currently getting to know London! I’ll be back soon, and hopefully the cold part of winter will be over (though I’m pretty sure that is wishful thinking).
Together we, the Red girls, have learned that we’re a little bit crazy about FlashFest, and even though getting the program done for the 2015 festival nearly drove us insane it was well worth it and we are excited about being more involved with the festival going forward.
Loss is hard.
Triumphs should be celebrated. As should birthdays!
Doing something nice for others will always end up making you feel better, which is a really lovely thing!
We also really love smiling! It is our favourite. And we love it when you smile too, and when we somehow impact your lives with our work!
Here are just a few of our 2015 favourites… but what we’re really most excited to show you is coming in 2016!
Happy New Year to all, and thank you for having us tell your stories!
